The second last round of the South-African ORE national championship were held at Durban (DMCC) over weekend 07 and 08 September 2013. With the track characteristics changing from the practise on Thursday right through to the finals on the Sunday, some top racers struggled to get their set-up right and the local competitors showed the way around a long and fast track.
The very fast 13.5T Touring class once again provided some great racing. Anderton Smith with his XRAY T4 managed to take TQ but the local favourite Michael Wiseman with his Serpent S411 took the win in the A Mains with Shaun Schutte second with his XRAY T4 and Michael Gibson with his Schumacher Mi5 kept the other drivers honest and achieved a third place.
The touring modified class provided for some spectacular high-speed racing. Anderton Smith (XRAY T4) was fast initially but with a re-run of the first qualifying race which he won, dropped down to third place on the grid. Again the local man Michael Wiseman took the TQ and win with his Serpent. Jason Hillcoat (XRAY T4) was steady the whole weekend and managed a second place in the A Mains followed by Michael Gibson with his Schumacher.
